Safety Signs Pack

Eleven safety signs for the places a question turns into an emergency: the address and emergency card, fire, alarms, shutoffs, no smoking, pool, dock, deck, grill, fireplace and winter. Print the ones your place needs.

What it fixes

The one night a guest needs the shutoff or the extinguisher, nobody is answering the phone

A guest in trouble does not open a binder. They look at the wall. These eleven signs put the answer where the trouble happens: the address and emergency number by the phone, the extinguisher and first aid kit named, what to do when a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds, where the water, gas and power shut off, and the rules for the pool, the dock, the deck, the grill, the fireplace and the winter. Five signs suit every rental and the rest switch on for the properties that need them. The builder sets your answers into the copy and prints them finished. Hot tub, septic, wood stove and wildlife signs are in their own packs and are not repeated here.

Written by Eric, who founded a vacation rental company in 2004 and spent close to a decade deep cleaning rentals somebody else had already called clean.

What is inside: all 11 parts

This is the complete contents list, not a highlights reel. Every line below is a part of the file that is already written and already laid out. The wording and the layout are done. You open it in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, or Pages and overwrite the bracketed fields with your own details.

  • Emergency card: the emergency number, the street address read the way a dispatcher needs it, your number, the nearest emergency room
  • Fire sign: get out first, where the extinguisher and first aid kit are, two ways out, the grease fire rule
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide alarm sign: go outside, then who to call, and why nobody touches a battery
  • Water, gas and power sign: where each shutoff is and what to do about a leak, a gas smell or a tripping breaker
  • No smoking and no open flames sign, with the outdoor spot named
  • Pool rules sign: no lifeguard, arm's reach, no glass, no diving, the gate
  • Lake, dock and shore sign: life jackets, no swimming alone or after dark, cold water
  • Decks, balconies and stairs sign: railings, a people limit, the stair light
  • Grill sign: outdoors only, lid open, stay with it, gas off, ashes in metal
  • Fireplace sign: damper, screen, clearance, never unattended, ashes stay put
  • Winter sign: salt and shovel, ice, space heater rules, the thermostat floor that keeps pipes from freezing

What it replaces

the work it removes
  • A blank document and every decision inside it. Somebody has to work out what belongs in each of those 11 parts, write the wording, and lay it out, 11 times over. That is the part already done.
  • A generic small-business template with the word "property" pasted over it. It was written against one problem: The one night a guest needs the shutoff or the extinguisher, nobody is answering the phone.
  • Version chasing. If the file gets revised, the new one is a free re-download, not a second purchase.
  • A subscription. It is a DOCX file you keep. Nothing logs in, nothing syncs, and nothing stops working when a card expires.

When not to buy this

said plainly
  • If what you want is software that runs itself, this isn't it and never claimed to be. It's a DOCX file you open, edit, and own. No app, nothing to log into.
  • Already have a version of this written down, with a team that follows it? Keep it. Swapping a working system for a stranger's is a downgrade.
  • The writing is done. Filling in your codes, your local numbers and your house rules is still on you.
  • You have not read one of these yet. 9 of the 36 files download with no account and no email address. Take one of those first and judge the writing before you spend $49 USD.
The pass math

There is no buy button for this one file. I would rather say so than print a price you cannot pay.

The 27 Pro toolkits are sold as one thing. One payment of $49 USD opens all of them. This file does not sell on its own, so there is no separate price to quote for it. What I will stand behind is a count: 27 files, 179 written parts between them. Every toolkit is named on the pricing page before you decide. Anything added to the library later is included, and nothing renews.
